NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. - More than 300 girls, accompanied by their favorite guys, attended the first-ever "Me and My Guy" dance at the Northbridge Middle School last night held by the Northbridge Parent-Teacher Association.
PTA vice-president Heather Gelinas proposed the dance as a fundraiser, and last night she said she was having as much fun as the girls. She still remembers fondly the many father-daughter dances she attended with her dad when she was a child.
The girls were dressed in flowing silk and flowery chiffon, with shoes that sparkled. It wasn't long, though, before the shoes came off and the serious dancing began, with each other and their "guys."
Music, provided by DJ Scott Phillips of Rhode Island, was a mix of popular modern favorites and oldies.
A photograher took formal photographs of the girls and their guys, refreshments were available, and Girl Scouts raised money for a Savannah trip by selling daisy flowers made of gum balls.
The 100th birthday of Girl Scouts is being celebrated this year, and some Northbridge Scouts hope to attend the party in Savannah, Georgia later this year.
